About the charity : Warwickshire And Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Warwickshire And Northamptonshire Air Ambulance
It provides an air ambulance service to the communities of Coventry, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire and to over 1 million motorists who use the busy network of roads in these areas everyday. It costs £1.4 million per year to operate the service and is supported entirely by voluntary donations.

On 20th June 2006 Jack Wright collapsed at his Primary School in Hampton Lucy, Warwickshire after suffering a heart attack.  Unbeknown to anyone, Jack, aged 6 at the time, has a heart condition called HOCM (hypertrophic obstructive cardio myopathy) and this caused his attack on that fateful day.  Jack's school did an outstanding job in caring for him until the Warwickshire And Northamptonshire Air Ambulance crew arrived only minutes after receiving the 999 call.  Re-starting Jack's heart they saved his life and in less than thirty minutes had him air lifted to the care of the local hospital!

On 20th June 2008 Jack's Dad and ten of his best friends cycled Coast 2 Coast, 140 miles in three days to celebrate Jack's survival and to raise money for the Warwickshire And Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

Supported by John Atkins Cycles of Leamington Spa, the riders were as follows:

Gordon Blane, Andrew Bowler, John Dickins, Julian Emslie, Mike Foden, Paul McKie, Steve Redshaw, Rob Shaw, Martin & Sam Thirlaway and Ian Wright

Those of you who know us will understand that we are far from being the finely tuned athletes normally seen on long distance cycle rides, but  a combination of Sunday morning training rides and sheer determination ensured success in this exciting (and sometimes scary) challenge!
