Earlier this year Jacob Brooks, Jane's nephew and Steve's son's Godson, was born six weeks premature and very poorly. After two months of excellent care in Birmingham Women's Hospital Neonatal Unit and Burton Hospital, Jacob was allowed home, and he's now a very happy, healthy and hungry 6 month old.
This year, Birmingham Women's Hospital is hoping to raise £2 million towards a new Neonatal Unit that will give many more babies like Jacob the best start in life.
Jane and Steve have now completed the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon on 13th September to raise money for this very worthy cause. Steve did it in 2 hours 10 minutes and 40 seconds, and Jane took just a little longer. The photo shows them both after the event, with Jacob, who obviously doesn't object to sweaty people holding him!
Jacob has now gained weight sufficiently since he was born to make him above the weight for his age, a credit to his parents, and to the medical care he received after his premature birth.
