Thanks for visiting our RCM fundraising page.We are running the Great North Run for the White Ribbon Alliance which aims to support Safer Motherhood at an International Level.
1 woman dies every minute,60 women die each hour of the day
1440 women die each day related to childbirth especially in the developing countries.Pregnancy ends in death for 600,000 a year worldwide!
As a result of this 1,000,000,children are left without a mother every year!
Team RCM are currently in training and running hard to ensure we will complete the 13.1 miles. We are suffering from aches, pains, blisters and blue toe nails from training,so what will we be like after completing the 13.1 miles? We will be happy, elated and delighted that you have supported us to cross that finishing line and helped to support a safer motherhood for women.
Update September 27th 2009.
Dear Sponsors friends,colleagues,family and supporters,
It`s been a whole week since we completed the Great North Run and what a fantastic race day we had.Tom was first across the finish line with a fantasic 1hr.55m. WOW! What a finish for Tom considering he was a "virgin half marathon man!"......Ralph was not far behind with 2hr.5m.Great considering he had just flown back from San Fran the day before ...that was a great result. Breedagh,Helen and Jacque crossed the finish line some time after but looked immaculate as they stopped at the nearest portaloo before the finish line to make sure the "lippy" was on for the photo shoot at the end....once they had wiped away the tears of emotion of course!
Susanna and Lesley were at the finish to hug us and give us a huge pat on the back. Thanks to both for their support and take the photos...to follow!
We all had a fab day and are ecstatic at your support and sponsorship. The funds are stiil coming in and more pledges are promised.Once we have a final total we will let you know. Please note that this web site is open till 20th Decemeber.
We cannot thank you all enough for your encouragemnet and support. It really helped us get through the day and crossing that finish line ...words cannot describe.A special congratulations to Helen who against all odds..bad knee and a little bit of confidence and support from the team , got there in the end. She`s still wearing the medal and refuses to remove it.
Thanks everyone on behalf of team RCM and the White Ribbon Alliance.
Helen,BreedaghTom ,Ralph and Jacque
