1 in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults in the UK have eczema - over 8 million people. For 50 years the Society has provided information and support and works to dispel myths so those who have eczema need not feel stigmatised, guilty or isolated. More recently we have funded essential eczema research.

Story

Hello guys and thank you for looking at my fundraising page.

All of you should know me already but just in case you don’t this is my story:

I have had eczema since I was a small child and have suffered from other problems such as asthma, hay fever and allergies (photo of me to left aged 12). While growing up I have had several different treatments including UV, wet wraps, in ward treatment and loads of out patient clinic appointments. Over the years I have had an amazingly supportive mother and sister who have helped me though everything. The most difficult times I have suffered were during my childhood. I Just wanted to be a ‘normal’ child and be able to do simple things like play sports but my eczema not only prevented this but also my confidence and with that the ability to make friends. I was eventually the laughing stock and bullying target all though primary and secondary school.

Now with a carefully monitored diet, plenty of exercise and support from others I am managing to control my skin more.

On the 17th of September (National Eczema Week) I am going to wear pajamas to work all day. I work for Patientline and my job includes walking around a hospital helping patients with their televisions. I just hope the staff doesn’t think I have escaped from one of the wards!

Due to my past experiences I am raising money for the National Eczema Society as I have been a member and getting support from them for 10+ years.

They have recently revamped their website including a helpline for people to get advice. Your donations will go towards helping this run!

Please sponsor me to make a total fool of myself and help me raise money for this great cause!

NB: If you are a
taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Thank you to the Cambridge Evening News for printing my story which can be found here: http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/cn_news_home/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=347498

Patientline has offered to double (up to a limit of £500) whatever donations I get - Thank you guys!
