Story
Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. A fund has been set up called Jago's Journey by his Grandmother Jan Hooper to support CLIC Sargent who have supported us so magnificently since Jago was diagnosed.
Jay Ocean London-Webb affectionately known as 'Jago' or 'JJ' is 2 yrs old. In April 2013 he was diagnosed with a Hepatoblastoma which is an aggressive cancerous tumour of the liver. He also has tumours in both his Lungs. As you can imagine we were all devastated. My daughter Francesca is a single parent to Jago and 6 yrs old Mimi and we felt it was imperative to remain together as a family. Jago was transferred from North Devon District Hospital to Bristol Children's Hospital immediately and accommodation was found at CLIC House in Bristol for me and Mimi. This allowed us to remain as a family unit providing us with real 'home from home' facilities. Jago has undergone more or less weekly chemotherapy since mid April 2013. The 'Chemo' did shrink the tumour in his Liver however the Doctors were concerned that the liver remained unresectable. We were sent to Birmingham Childrens Hospital for a Liver transplant assessment. Unfortunately at the end of a week after MRI and CT scans we were told a liver transplant was out of the question as there were still tumours in his lungs, the prognosis was poor. The Surgeon promised that they would have a further look at the scans and have a clinical meeting the following week. We spent a gloomy weekend at home and tried to regroup. We then received a phone call from the surgeon in Birmingham with the wonderful news that they thought the Liver did look resectable. We were ecstatic. The plan is for Jago to undergo one last course of chemotherapy over three weeks in Bristol Children's Hospital then we are to go to Birmingham Children's Hospital for a series of operations on first his Liver then on both lungs individually. The road ahead is rocky and uncertain but we have hope and faith in the wonderful nursing and medical expertise. Jago is such a happy mischievous little boy. He has charmed everyone he has come into contact with his wicked sense of humour and beaming smile coping so well with the ups and downs of his illness and treatment. This wonderful little boy who has undergone so much in his young life fills us with pride and joy. He truly is an inspirational little fellow. CLIC Sargent not only provided us with accommodation, but a CLIC social worker to help my daughter claim the benefits she was due and other financial help. A CLIC Nurse in the community comes to take regular bloods for monitoring. CLIC Sargent have been an invaluable source of support over these tumultuous few months. By setting up this fund I hope that I can keep all the lovely caring friends and acquaintances up to date with Jago's progress and hopefully raise some money along the way to help keep the wonderful work that CLIC Sargent does in helping not only children suffering from cancer but their families too.
