The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity working in 130 countries worldwide and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the world. In the UK and Republic of Ireland this work includes more than 800 Salvation Army social service centres and Community churches. We provide unconditional friendship, support and very practical help to people in crisis and need and work with children, homeless people, all adult victims of modern slavery and those dealing with drug and/or alcohol addiction. Alongside our work in the UK, The Salvation Army International Projects Office works with communities around the world to support and empower them to defeat poverty and injustice. Our development projects are created and implemented in partnership with communities to enable them to build a better life and future for themselves. Story

In my spare time I am a voluntary youth worker at the Salvation Army based in Aston, Birmingham.  We're a christian organisation but the kids who come are from all different faith backgrounds.  The reason we do it is to help these amazing young people to develop and to have an opportunity to enjoy life to the full.  Not easy in one of the most deprived parts of Birmingham.

The centre is run by a brilliant team who are mostly unpaid volunteers but employing two staff and providing activities for young people does cost money.  Please, please consider sponsoring me as I run the Birmingham Half Marathon on Sunday and your support will help this fantastic club keep growing and helping the local community.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Many thanks

James
