New update:

 We did it!! We completed the sky dive on Monday 2nd June at Franz Josef in New Zealand! It was the most spectacular experience, we're so glad we did it! Thank you to everyone who donated, we really appreciate it and it will make so much difference to the Lingen Davies fund. Why we did it...

As some of you will already know, James and I returned back to England half way through our round the world trip as my Grandfather became very unwell with Richters Syndrome. He had been diagnosed with Leukemia around 2 years ago, but was given the positive news that with treatment, it would not affect his quality of life very much.

Last December, however, he developed Richters Syndrome, which was much more serious. The condition was extremely aggressive and on March 30th, at only 75 years old, my grandfather passed away peacefully at the Shrewsbury Royal Hospital.

The care he has received over the last couple of years has been exceptional, and the excellent support that the staff have given to my grandparents has made such a difficult time that bit more bearable.

We are now continuing with our trip, and in my grandfather's name we are going to take part in a sponsored Skydive in New Zealand. This will be to raise money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Relief Fund who are trying to raise £3.2 million to build a new cancer care unit at the Shrewsbury Royal Hospital. They cared so much for my grandfather in his last couple of years, and we would both love to give something back in his name. We really would appreciate any donation that you can afford, we know times are difficult but every penny will make a difference to the patients and their families who are going through what my grandfather and my family have been through. We will be paying for the sky dive, so every penny you donate will go to the LC fund. We will be doing it on the 2nd June 2009 at Lake Wanaka, NZ.
