James' BSSA Duathlon · 13 September 2009

Sjögren’s Syndrome is debilitating, distressing, under recognised and under treated. Glands that produce tears and salvia or secretions of the vagina, skin and bowel stop working, it causes muscle or joint pain, low mood and extreme fatigue. The BSSA supports sufferers and raises awareness.

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I am taking part in the London Duathlon on 13th September 2009 in aid of the British Sjogren's Syndrome Association (BSSA).

Sjögren's Syndrome is an autoimmune disease which affects approximately 0.5 million people in the UK. It is a condition where the body’s immune system starts attacking parts of the body instead of fighting infection. Common symptoms are Dry Eyes, Dry Mouth but please visit http://www.bssa.uk.net/information.html for all of the information.

I am running in aid of the BSSA because my Mum suffers from Sjogren's Syndrome and yet she continues to be Ace! She is constantly positive and does not let it rule her life; go Mum!

"Hang on! What exactly is the London Duathlon?"

The London Duathlon is a running and cycling race taking part in Richmond Park, Putney. The course starts with a 10km run, transitions to a 20km cycle before transitioning back to an additional 5km run. Unlike a classic Triathlon there is no swimming component, so like Sjogren's Syndrome... this race has a distinct lack of water!

Please donate whatever you are comfortable with and this site will securely send every penny direct to the BSSA Charity. If you are a UK taxpayer it will also add on GiftAid.

Thanks for your support, James.
