Every so often I feel the need to do something a bit different for charity and in the past this has included a 2-mile high parachute jump and a 12-hour non-stop football tournament.
Well I’ve gone and done it now……………big time!
I have agreed to take part in a white collar boxing fight on the 27 October 2011 at the Grange Hotel, St. Paul’s, in the City of London.
I volunteered to take part in this some months ago but was not sure which charity to raise money for.
Well my mind was well and truly made up a few months ago when my family received the devastating news that my dad had been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
The news knocked all of us for six, especially my mum but my dad has taken everything in his stride, as he usually does, still smiling, cracking rubbish jokes, playing with my son, Jake, and still partaking in the odd tipple of vino!
His family, without a shadow of a doubt, means more to him than anything else in the world, everything he does, he does for his family.
And it is with this in his mind that he is fighting back…………..
He has had the tumour, which was the size of a cricket ball, removed from his bowel and is now having chemotherapy treatment.
My dad has said that the love, care and attention he has so far received from the nurses of Macmillan Cancer Support has been second to none and because of this I have chosen to raise money for them.
My dad is a fighter and he will not let this beat him!!
So please please please give as much as you can spare, this is not just for my dad but for every cancer sufferer diagnosed yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Thank you so much.
