My name is James Chapman im 28 years old and I live in Worksop, England.

I have recently been selected to go to Costa Rica in August 2009 as an ICYE volunteer. I will be working as an international volunteer for an organisation, which supports some of the most disadvantaged sectors within the country and by doing so will make a difference to the lives of others. ICYE-UK is a registered national charity (No. 1081907) working in the area of youth development. It gives young people the opportunity to help and support disadvantaged individuals all over the world.

Through these exchanges, volunteers promote peace, cultural understanding and youth empowerment. To enable my participation as a volunteer I will need to raise £4,495. This sum will cover my flight, and insurance, and a proportion will enable an international volunteer from Costa Rica to come to the UK and work as a volunteer in a domestic charity such as disabled homes, homeless projects, and other social projects.
