I successfully completed the Marathon Des Sables on the 5th April, covering the most amazing scenery and challenging terrain I have ever ran across. I completed the race in 181st position in a field of 900 other competitors and finished in the top 20 of the 250 British runners.
The entire event, from start to finish was a great experience and one I'll never forget for the rest of my life. I met some great people from all kinds of backgrounds, and also found out a lot about my self and what I have, and more importantly have around me back home in Britain.
There were many lows, but many more highs throughout the race, walking through the bad times and running through the good ones. I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart, for your support and generous donations to the Maggie's Centre. Without knowing your support was there, the bad times could have been much worse, and the smile on my face at the finish line may have been a lot smaller. But knowing I had the support made it easier to push on to the finish line.
All together we have managed to raise a fantastic amount so far, with money still to be collected, the Maggie's Centre have received a lot of cheques that have been sent direct to them from family and friends and we are on target to raise around £7500.
So many thanks again, especially to my family and friends for all your help preparing for it and all your support and donations, I now look forward to catching up with you all very soon to thank you in person,
Kindest regards
James Quigley
