Story

James Low & Mark Shea work together in London. Over a cup of tea they dreamt up a challenge as a way to both test themselves and contribute to improving the lives of others. The idea is to summit Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. The target is for a successful attempt in 6 days and nights.Their rationale for taking on this challenge is detailed below:

Tragically the moment British soldiers become “casualties” is the last we hear of them, and then often just as statistics. With a war effort so far away, and for a cause which has caused so much controversy it is often too easy to lose sight of the human impact for the soldiers involved. However, as the recent BBC documentary ‘Wounded’ showed, life continues for “casualties” long after the media move on. It’s an extraordinary testament to the strength of all wounded servicemen and women who despite being well within their rights to feel sorry for themselves and give up, show a strength of character that goes well beyond their often tender years.

Certainly for us, the impression that is left after hearing the stories of these heroes, is a message of courage, love and commitment, something everyone can learn from.

With this in mind we want to contribute in what small way we can to the ongoing support of our soldiers. Please join us in saying ‘thank you’ to those who live by the notion of triumph over adversity. Help The Heroe's.

‘Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duty, and so bear ourselves that if the British and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'.’ Sir Winston Churchill
