Story

ALMOST DONE NOW !... Let me bring you up to speed. I won't dwell on the Great Scottish Run as I never got to finish it due to an ankle injury. I decided to drop out and take it easy for the Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon. I drove up to Inverness and slept on the couch in a hostel because they had no beds for me. Then woke up and forgot I was in the Highlands. It was freezing!!! It was a really fast downhill start to the race which saw me adapt my "Get to the Choppa!" tactics which left me absolutly knackered after about 3 miles. After I settled down it was up and down all the way past Loch Ness... Things were going well until I pulled my groin about 16 miles in and pretty much hobbled all the way to the finish line! It was probably the hardest race I've done so far but it was worth it in the end... what wasn't worth it was the 3 1/2 hour drive home immediately afterwards!

Then I died for a while and recovered just in time for the Saab Salomon Turbo X exactly one week later. A 10 mile race through the toughest trail I have ever saw. Waist deep mud and stinking pools of mud/water saw me lose both my shoes and socks and an absolute bear of a hill had me crawling up on my hands and knees about 6 miles in. My legs were like lead right from the start and got heavier as soon as I jumped in the mud. That didn't stop me from having the best fun I've ever had whilst running. Anyway, my toes are now shot to bits and you can play House of the Rising Sun on my hamstrings but I'll keep on truckin' until next Sunday. The Aviemore Half Marathon is my last race this year (hopefully) and i'll update thisafterwards. Thanks for all the sponsors so far and there's still time for some more so dig deep!

4th race of the series done!... I'm a little bit crippled at the moment and I've lost more than one toe nail. The John Lucas Memorial 50 on Sunday 22nd Aug was 50 miles of sheer punishment. As far as I'm aware, it's Britain's longest road race. Again, I went to some pretty special places inside my own head and at one point I even said "good afternoon" to a cow as I ran by. HOWEVER!... With a little help from Billy Connolly (on my ipod) and all the fantastic stewards at the race, I completed it in 9 hours 48 mins.

I left Strathaven Park at 0810hrs and hit the road, taking me to the likes of Stonehouse, Larkhall, Chapelton and a few other places. I think it's safe to say I have never ran up so many hills in my life and I made some noises that a man should never make, but I got there in the end!

Anyways, back to the ice bath and maybe I'll fit in a wee training sesh in time for the Glasgow half marathon on 5th Sept (got my race pack today!).

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPPORT AND SPONSORS (ONLINE AND TRADITIONAL). IT'S ALL APPRECIATED !!!

Thanks to everyone who has donated money so far. It is very much appreciated. 3 races down, 5 to go. I have just taken part (and completed) the Clydestride 40 Ultramarathon. Starting at Partick train station at 9am accompanied by 95 other runners, we ran through city, farmland and riverside trails, along the way being pounded by torrential rain and sun alike. It's suffice to say my vest tan is back with a vengance!... I have no complaints though because I came in with a time of 7hrs 50 mins firmly wedging me in the middle of the pack. Not bad considering I got lost twice and ended up running an extra 4 miles or so! Although it was incredibly hard, it was hard to moan when I was handed a bottle of beer at the finish line!

Anyways, a few ice baths later and im ready for the next one. It's another Ultra, 50 miles this time so I'll let you know how that goes. Once again, thanks for all the donations so far!

Ok... I have now done the Monklands half marathon which I did in 1hour 36mins. That landed me in 34th Place which I was delighted with. Next up was the Edinburgh Marathon which was mindblowing!  I did it in 4 hours 9 mins which is slower than I wanted but I cant complain seeing as it was 26c for the majority of the day. I have loads of photos and stuff on my facebook page so feel free to check them out so you know I'm not lying haha.

Next up is the Clydestride Ultra. 40 miles from Partick to Lanark.... I'm not saying any more until I've actually did it. Needless to say however, that I am TERRIFIED!

Thanks for your donations so far...

Jamie!

Howdy...

Long story cut short, I'm running a few races...

200+ miles and counting...

The races I have confirmed so far are         Monklands Half Marathon

                                                                         Clydestride 40 mile race

Great Scottish Run - Half Marathon

                                                                         Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon

                                                                         Salomon Turbo X - 10 mile race

                                                                         Aviemore Half Marathon

John Lucas Memorial - 50 mile race!

This is what I have so far. From those of you who know me well, you'll know I'm a wee bit fit, but even still, this is going to be murder! No doubt there will be more races added in due course.

I have decided to raise money for Dog's Trust to help them continue the great work they do. If your not familiar with their work then go to www.dogstrust.org.uk .... it's a worthy charity if ever you saw one!

I appreciate in advance, any donations made. I'll be doing a whole bunch of other charity events in the coming year and I look forward to your support!
