Story
On Sunday the 18th September, I will be taking part in the Bupa Great North Run to raise money for a charity very close to me, The Stuart Strange Vasculitis Trust.
I will be running in memory of my Grandad Des Winks, who passed away in July 2007, aged 56, after being diagnosed with a rare form of vasculitis that affects only 4 in 1 million people.
I would like to take this opportunity to raise awareness of this very rare disease and provide the funding it so desperately needs, to the only charity that provides all types of vascultis- The Stuart Strange Vasculitis Trust.
My Grandad was well looked after at the Addenbrooks Hospital in Cambridge by the very kind Dr Jayne and his colleagues, as well as Consultants at Papworth Hospital. I would like to thank their continuous work by giving something back to help fund vasculitis research.
The target amount I am aiming to raise for The Stuart Strange Trust is £1000, which I think would be a fantastic achievement, but there is no reason why we can't raise any more.
I am currently aiming for a time of 1 hour and 45 minutes, and I aim to push hard in training to achieve an even better time.
From the day I made this page there are 100 days to go until the race. I will be updating my Facebook page and my Twitter account weekly on my training progress, feel free to follow and comment as I progress.

Thanks for reading my story, please dig deep and help this vasculitis charity which deserves far more awareness and recognition then it gets.
Thanks,
