The Peace Hospice - Starlight Walk 2010 · 22 May 2010 ·

We provide support at end of life but the majority of our work focuses on supporting those with life-limiting illnesses who have many more years to live. That support includes symptom control, pain relief, companionship, spiritual support and improving the physical wellbeing of patients

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've been working at The Peace Hospice since last December and it's great. The people are supportive and committed to the excellent work of the Hospice - not just people staying at The Peace In Patient Unit, but the excellent Day Care Centre and the Hospice at Home Team, who offer respite for Carer's as well as help to those people nearing the end of their lives. There is also a support team for bereaved families who can be of great help in unhappy times.

The Hospice movement is all about having the best life possible when having a life shortening illness. Of course also about leaving it - but in a dignified way with support and love from those who can help.

My Mum Maggie Allen, died under Hospice care and they made her comfortable and content while giving her (and us)  emotional support in her final days.

The Peace Hospice only has 20% of it's funding from the Government - the rest is all contributed by individuals, people like you.

So thanks for any contribution that you can make. I'll have very sore feet at the end of it, if that's any consolation!
