Mount Kilimanjaro · 12 June 2005 to 22 July 2005 ·

Our mission is to support people to earn an income from a trade. We run vocational training and business development projects with our partners in Ghana, Malawi, Uganda and Zambia. Our UK volunteers collect and refurbish donated tools and sewing machines to support our projects and our shop sales.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I managed to get to the top of the mountain, 5,732 Km, but not to get to the very highest point on the crater rim!
I have to say that if I'd known what it entailed I would NEVER have attempted the climb. It's without doubt the most dificult thing I have ever done and I think I would have given up but for the fact that so many of you had sponsored me. I had an absolutely brilliant guide, Onyx. He helped me get there and perhaps more importantly helped me get down!
We walked from 11.30 pm on Thursday until 6.00 pm on Friday with only an hours sleep. It took me seven and a half hours to trudge to the top, a furher four to amble down to base camp and a further five to get to the camp we slept at.
Now I'm back at work and the knees are beginning to recover!
Many thanks to all those who sponsorsored me. Your support. kept me going. To those of you who have yet to sponsor me please do so generously. I want to make this effort really worthwhile and to use some of the sponsorship on our projects in Kilimanjaro region.

Best wishes, Jan
