OH MY GOD - HOW DID WE GET TALKED INTO THIS?
It was suggested by one of our contractors that doing a trek across the Grand Canyon in support of St Wilfrid’s Hospice would be a good idea. . . . . . so we’ve exchanged our stiletto’s for hiking boots and training has begun and believe me training for one as unfit as Jan is essential as until now the only trekking we’d done had been round Bluewater and Lakeside!
We’ll be trekking for 8 days in extreme temperatures ranging between 27ºC during the day to -3ºC at night and start the trek with a 16km (10 miles) descent into the canyon to reach base camp. . . . !
We have both worked at the Hospice for a number of years (Sharon for 17 and Jan for 9) and know how important the hospice is to the local community. St Wilfrid’s Hospice is a local charity which set up 25 years ago to care for people over 18 with life-limiting illnesses. Services currently include a 10-bed in-patient unit, a day therapy clinic, Hospice at Home care, bereavement counselling, complementary therapies and a specialist lymphoedema clinic.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: St Wilfrid’s Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now!
