When I gave birth to my daughter, it was in a clean, well-equipped hospital, with access to midwives and doctors. Going into labour is hard enough, but imagine walking eight hours to get to the nearest clinic, on unpaved roads, across treacherous rivers and with the fear of attack. Imagine not making it to the clinic on time, and having to give birth on the side of the road, without help.

 

This is an everyday reality for mothers in Liberia. Many mothers and babies suffer dangerous or fatal complications because they cannot reach medical help in time. That is why I am raising money for Save The Children's Build it for Babies Liberia Clinics Appeal.

 

If I reach my target of £500, this money will pay to train two skilled health workers to provide care in a local community in Liberia. Your money will make a difference to the lives of mothers and babies.

 

Running a half marathon will be easy in comparison. Please dig deep.
