Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

We plant urban trees in parks, streets, schools and housing estates across the UK, as well as internationally, revitalising these areas and improving the lives of the people who live in them. We strengthen communities through volunteering opportunities and inspire children to grow and eat good food.

Story

OMG! I can't believe I'm really doing this! When I helped found Trees for Cities 16 years ago, a marathon to me meant outlasting everyone else at one of our all-night fundraising raves. Oh how times have changed! I've never run a real Marathon before (or even a half one) but I believe passionately in the work Trees for Cities does, bringing hope and happiness to children and adults in Britain's run-down inner-city areas, helping in the fight against global warming and supporting communities in Ethiopia, Kenya and Peru. I'm trying to bring in as much sponsorship money as I can. My target is to raise £10,000 – enough to pay for an edible playground (where kids grow produce for their own school dinners) at an urban school.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Trees for Cities gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thanks so much for your help!
