Jane and Julie are embarking on a year of fundraising for JDRF. Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation exists to find a cure for type 1 diabetes in children.,,It is the world's largest charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research. It was founded by a small group of parents who realised that insulin injections were not the cure for this life long condition. JDRF raises money to drive research to prevent, treat and cure type 1 diabetes in children.
Type 1 diabetes in children has doubled in Scotland in the last 10 years and they don't know why. Currently there are approximately 250 children under the care of the Diabetic Team at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee!
Jane Mitchell's story...."I developed type 1 diabetes at the age of three. Treatment for diabetes has progressed over the years, I am now using an insulin pump which has helped me control having diabetes immensely!! "
Julie Annandale's story..."My daughter Katie developed diabetes in 2009 at the age of five. A year on and she has carried out the finger pricking and insulin injection regime well. She has recently began managing her diabetes using an insulin pump."
Hopefully our fund raising will aid further valuable research to help children with diabetes manage their control and live a happy and healthy life.
