Thank you for taking the time to visit the donation page for this appeal.
Last Christmas was the worst I’ve ever experienced. On the 20th December, I was told that I had
been diagnosed with cancer.
I spent Christmas in a fog of shock, fear and depression. Celebrating was the very last thing I felt
like doing. I was sure that this would be my last Christmas, and that the New Year would only bring
pain and suffering.
Then, I was referred to St. David’s Hospice. My St. David’s nurse visited at the beginning of
January. I was able to ask her those questions I’d been too shocked to ask the doctor, and share
with her my worries about the future. She took the time to explain how my cancer would be
managed, and the many ways St. David’s could help me. She even referred me to Day Hospice.
I go once a week – I’ve made new friends who understand how I’m feeling, and even discovered a
talent for painting I never knew I had!
Despite my fears, 2009 has been a positive year for me. This year, I plan to make the most of
Christmas. I don’t know what 2010 will hold, but I do know that if I need them, St. David’s are just
a phone call away.
I’ve been able to benefit from this care because of the kindness of people like you. This Christmas,
St. David’s will be caring for more than 1000 people in our local community. I wonder if you would
consider making a further donation to support their work? With your continued support, St. David’s
will be there for people who need them throughout the festive period and into 2010.
With best wishes for Christmas 2009 and a wonderful 2010.
