Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is going to be my biggest challenge yet! I am joining Cycle for Hope's Ultimate Cycle Ride for the last 2 legs. The Core Team will have already cycled from Tangiers, starting on 7th December 2009. I will be attempting to ride 1,283 miles (2,064 kms)! Please see below for the aims of the Ride.
This is pretty scary and will be challenging mentally, spiritually and last - but not least -physically! But I hope to have fun, raise a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause and to witness to God's love.
I have to raise £1,000 sponsorship so please be as generous as you can. But if you are not in a position to help financially please spread the word-and pray for fitness, endurance and stamina.
"Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus" (1 Thess. 5:16-18)
There are two main aims for the cycle:
1. To provide an insight for those involved into life in Africa with it’s spiritual and physical needs.2. To raise awareness and funds for the Hope Academies run by AIS South Africa.
Target to raiseOur target to raise is £200,000 which could be used in the following ways:
(1) £500 will put a young person through the Hope Academy for one year(2) £25,000 will buy a minibus for an Academy
(3) £50,000 will develop educational facilities in one of the AcademiesWhat is a Hope Academy?
Hope Academy is a program that aims to bring hope to young lives through soccer. The program teaches team dynamics, life skills and biblical principles as well as offering high quality soccer coaching. Young people that come through the program have an increased opportunity to find employment and even play professional soccer if they are good enough. The Academy model is adaptable and can be used in different environments like prisons, schools and children homes.
AIS South Africa would like to have 10 Academies established by 2012. Currently there are 4 Academies that are already established two of which are working directly within prisons.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
