Hi Everyone,

Yes its that time of year again for another event. This time i am running the Robin Hood Marathon on September 14th 2008. Thats actually driving distance but i am going to use my little leggies and run it.

I am running for a charity called Katharine House Hospice, i have chosen to run for this charity as a very good friend recently lost her mum to cancer.

Margaret Eastwood was an out patient for a year, which involved her going one day on a Tuesday to meet other people with cancer. She used to have reflexology, painting classes,play bingo and have her hair done, she enjoyed her weekly visit as the nurses were on hand to take care of her and give her support when she was feeling low.The staff are mainly volunteers who came in especailly to socalise with the group and they became friends, she made so many friends and always gave donations to the hospice as they needed certain things.

Margaret also spent time in the hospice for respite and to her last days. The staff were fantastic and nothing was to much for them to do. They listened to Margaret and were so patient and sympathetic. Also the support for family members was amazing, they would take time to support them through the illness.

Sadly Margaret passed away in May 2008 and the hospice still provides support for the family.
