Story

Update from October 13th 2009:
We did it!

Thankyou to everyone that have donated to support Kai and I in running the Royal Parks half-marathon on Sunday to raise money for the miscarriage association. Whilst not really aiming for a finish time, after a few miles the thought of finishing in under 2 hours seemed nice, and we both crossed the line in 1:58:00 (including a pit stop at 11 miles!). The hours crafting my Gym Ultimate 'Max' iPod playlist payed off and made sure we went the distance.

Naturally celebrated with a mars bar, banana, sausage roll and a pint of cider.

Thanks again to everyone for supporting us,
Jan and Kai

Update from June 2009:

I'm running the Royal Parks half-marathon on 11th October with my brother Kai to try and raise as much money as I can for the only national charity that provides support and information to those affected by miscarriage.

Early this year, Catherine and I discovered how unhappy and frightening losing a baby in pregnancy is.

The Miscarriage Association helped us by providing information and support when we needed it the most and I want to help them continue doing that for others in this situation

Income from event sponsorship makes up more than a quarter of The M.A.’s £200,000 annual budget, so every penny of your sponsorship will really make a difference.  What’s more, if you are a UK taxpayer and Gift Aid whatever you give, you’re adding another 28% to the charity without it costing you a thing.

Here is what your money could help do:

£5 pays for sending out a pack of 5 information leaflets on miscarriage facts and feelings

£17 pays for helpline support and a leaflet pack for one person

£20 means staff can send leaflet packs to four people

£36 will staff the helpline for an hour (responding to 2 to 4 requests for help)

£50 pays for one hour’s outreach costs, telling 10 nurses, midwives or doctors about The M.A.

£100 will enable The M.A. to train a new support volunteer

£250 pays for a training session for GPs or hospital doctors

£500 means they can send leaflet packs to 100 people

£1,000 will cover the cost of researching, writing and producing a new information leaflet

Please donate as much money as possible!
