Since having the privilege, in my previous career, of working with women who were directly affected by cancer and hearing their stories, struggles, triumphs and bravery, I have supported cancer charities.
Tenovus Cancer Care has a special place in my heart because it's Welsh and proud of it! It is a small (compared to other national cancer charities) but extremely effective cancer charity who do very many wonderful things for those who have been affected by cancer. From chemo mobile units for those unable to get to hospitals, to counselling, research, choirs, nurse call back services and a 365 day a year cancer support line for cancer patients and their families in the UK. Just a few of the reasons why this is an amazing charity!
Along with the charity holding a place in my heart, Kilimanjaro has been a lifelong dream. Through various connections, like my mother's former career as a human geography lecturer specialising in Africa, supporting the African Children's Choir and many more, Africa has always felt like a calling and a lifelong dream. I've been obsessed with picture of its beautiful scenery, animals and sunsets and of course...Kilimanjaro! Now I've plucked up the courage to go for my dream, whilst supporting an extremely worthwhile charity....
