London Marathon 26 April 2009
I appear to have taken leave of my senses and agreed to run the London Marathon. 26.2 miles of concrete. The only good thing that can come out of this is that I am running in support of the charity, Disability Sport Events and every penny that you kindly donate goes straight to them. The law firm that I work for, Frehsfields, have also generously agreed to match the amount that I raise up to 1000 pounds - so Disability Sport Events will get even more.
Disability Sport Events organise regional, national and international competitions in a variety of sports. They are the only sports events organisation in the country for disabled people and operate from grass roots (eg mini games for 6-12 year olds) to elite competition. They don't receive any Government funding and so fundraising is crucial for their programmes to exist (they actually organise the London Wheelchair Marathon).
In order to get into some kind of shape so that I don't collapse half way round the course, I am going to have to start by giving up some of the things that I love (see picture) - so please sponsor me....
Thanks very much in advance and drop me an email if you have any questions or want to know more information about the charity that I am running for.
Cheers
Jared
(The small print... Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Disability Sport Events gets your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.)
