Story

For Jasmine Eleanor

Every day 17 parents have to go through the heartache and pain of losing their baby. On Saturday 30th January 2010 we became one of the seventeen.

This is our story:

Everything was fine, we had had the 12 and 20 week scans and both baby and mother were perfectly healthy. We proudly showed off the scan photos to all of our friends and family and could finally start looking forward to the 4th June when our baby was due.

We bought our first baby outfit and tried to imagine how our baby would look dressed in what we had bought. Life was finally starting to look positive after all of our troubles of last year.

Our little boy told us how excited he was to be having a little brother or sister and he started to suggest names that he liked - Zachary for a boy and Jasmine for a girl.

We started to imagine dates in the future such as birthdays, holidays and christmas and what our new baby would add to these, in truth we could not wait.

Then - Tuesday 26th January 2010.

My wife was in the bathroom when suddenly she called my name and I could tell by the tone of her voice that something was wrong.

She was bleeing quite heavily. We called NHS Direct and our Midwife who told us to go to A&E at Stoke Mandeville.

We were taken to a room where they carried out an examination. The cervix had opened and they warned us about the possibility of a premature labour.

They offered us hope that if the bleeding stopped then they would be able to place a stitch to close the cervix. For three days we remained positive and eventually the bleeding subsided enough for the doctors to consider the stitch.

A scan was arranged for Friday 29th January. This is when we were given the devastating news that the baby had started to come and that there was nothing they could do to stop things.

We did not sleep a wink that night for fear of the labour starting. When we could still feel our baby kicking on the following Saturday morning we thought that maybe a miracle might happen.

11.55am on Saturday 30th January 2010 our baby Jasmine Eleanor Belson was born. She fought for life for 27 minutes before passing away in our arms.

27 short minutes that will stay in our hearts for an eternity.

Jasmine was 22 weeks and 1 day when born. She was perfect in every way, just born too soon.

When we lost Jasmine all of our dreams and plans for the future were lost too - Daddy's little girl, Mummy's little Princess, Regan's little Sister, all stolen from us so cruelly.

Please help us to raise as much as possible for Sands in memory of Jasmine. If all of my facebook friends donated a single pound then this would raise an amazing £117.00 to help families get through these aweful times.
