Story
I'm going off to trek 100km of the Sahara Desert (the Morocco part) in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. I know too many people who have got, had or died from cancer so this is my way of trying to help, plus of course Macmillan is a very worthwhile cause. I leave on the 27th February 2010 & the trip is 9 days in total.
Imagine this. The Sahara desert stretched out at your feet. The snow-capped Atlas Mountains of Morocco in the distance to the north. The breathtaking views and panoramic sunsets are not a mirage.
The challenge of Macmillan's 100km trek through one of the most extreme landscapes on earth is not for the fainthearted. The landscape varies from a stony flat expanse to perfect wind blown sand dunes that climb to 500m in height, broken only by the occasional oasis. The feelings of space and solitude are awesome.
This trek will not be easy, during the day the temperature can be in the 30's & at night down in the minus figures. I will be walking for about 8 hours a day, but I will have company because my London Marathon co runner buddy Antony Lobb is also doing this challenge with me.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Alternatively if you live near me I am doing loads of carboot sales to raise money so if you have any stuff you no longer want lying around get in touch & we can arrange collection.
