Kids Kidney Research merged with Kidney Research UK in 2017. The merger will enable Kidney Research UK to build on both charities rich heritage.

Story

Hi all

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I really need your help to raise money for Kids Kidney Research. Here's why:

I ran the London marathon in 2000. I was 25, had trained hard and had abstained from alcohol for 3 months. I was blissfully ignorant of the effort that would be required. On the day, I dyed my hair green so that I could be spotted more easily in the pack and to generate extra crowd support. With the crowd pushing me on, I managed a time of 3hrs40mins. On the plus side, I beat Roger Black by a full two minutes. On the down side, I spent most of the race trailing to a guy in a spotty dog costume.

For 2009, I have foolishly decided to run the race again and of course, I have to beat my personal best.

Problems:

I'm now 34.

I have an extra 9 years' beer and curry consumption stuccoed to my waist.

I have very little hair left to dye.

This time I know the pain that awaits me and I'm scared.

So, please spur me on by giving as generously as you can. As you can see, I have already started training, Rocky IV-style, out in the Swiss snows.
