UPDATE: Ride Completed on 20th September - 257 miles - 2 countries and coasts - Brilliant weather - Journey time of 6.5 hours (including 4 stops) - Thanks to everyone who has supported me - Very much appreciated! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
On the 20th September I will be riding my motorcycle from Chapel St Leonards on the East coast of England across to Aberystwyth on the West coast of Wales. God willing and a fair wind the ride should will take about 6 hours, during which time I will cover in the region of 250 miles, using a mixture of A and B roads.
I am hoping this ride will raise money for The Macular Disease Society and Vista Blind as well as raise awareness of macular disease, which is the leading cause of sight loss in the Western World.
During the Autumn of 2007 my eyesight detereorated to the stage where I was unable to drive, read, etc. I was given a combination of two of the latest treatments for macular disease (PDT laser and an Avastin injection) and to date the results have been incredible, to the point where 99.5% of the vision in my right eye has returned, meaning I can drive and read again. I have been extremely fortunate and want to give something back to two of the organisations who supported me. More information about the condition I have can be found at: www.pic-world.com and more information about the treatment I received can be found at: http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/content/articles/2008/08/29/macular_disease_feature.shtml
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Macular Disease Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now! QUICK UPDATE: Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me. Together we have already surpassed my initial target of £250. Let's see if we can make £500
