This year, as it is my big 40! birthday year, I would like to mark this occasion by suggesting you donate, however big or small, a money gift to Pump Aid. This organisation tackles poverty in Africa by working with local communities in installing "Elephant pumps" providing a permanent supply of clean water.

This stops women having to walk hours every day to bring back dirty water which often makes their children sick. The clean water from the pump keeps the children healthy and provides irrigation for growing fresh food for the family.

It only costs £500 to install a pump which provides clean water for 250 people! How fantastic is that?!!
