Story
Hello Everybody,
After successfully conquering Mt Kilimanjaro in 2009, Kam and Jay are now taking on the challenge of an expedition to Mt Everest Base Camp in April 2012 for eye care charity, Vision Aid Overseas.
The Everest Base Camp trek is on the south side of the Himalayas and at Kala Patthar is 5,545 metres (18,192 ft) above sea level.
We are sure that you will all agree that it will be a very tough physical and mental challenge taking nine days to ascend and four days to descend, but should we make it to the base camp, it will be a very rewarding one! We hope you will be able to support us in this worthwhile cause. Vision Aid Overseas works for a world in which everyone has access to eye care and glasses.
It is amazing how easily we take spectacles for granted in the UK. 670 million people worldwide are disadvantaged because they simply do not have access to eye care and this prevents parents from being able to work and provide for their families, children from receiving an education because they are unable to see the blackboard and grandparents from seeing their grandchildren grow up because they can’t see them properly. Just by providing patients with a simple pair of glasses suited to their prescription is life changing for them.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
