Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My story is really that of my son's.

4 1/2 years ago at just 2 years old Joshua was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and our lives changed dramatically overnight. Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic life-threatening condition for which there is no cure. The only treatment is daily multiple injections or pump infusions of insulin. This means putting a needle in our son several times a day to keep him alive. Couple this with the never ending blood tests, again pricking him with a lancet, somewhere in the region of 5 on a good day, a lot more on a bad and you get an idea of what we are dealing with.

In April 2011, I ran the London Marathon, after having trained for a year, but having not run prior to that for 24+ years! A lot of people, especially those who knew me, thought I was mad, but we did manage to raise just short of £3,400, which was amazing.

So, what will they think of me now? In an attempt to raise even more money to help find that cure, I have decided that BIGGER IS BETTER!!!

As a result I am going to run 8 marathons in 8 days, thats right, you didnt mis-read it (though I hoped i had) 8 in 8. I am starting with the Brighton marathon on April 15th and will finish 7 days later with London on April 22nd. Needless to say, this is a huge challenge for me, but I want to do this to raise as much money as I possibly can and its that thought that will sustain me during the training and the days of the challenge.

So thank you to everyone who donated last time, please, please help me to raise even more this time. As I finalise the routes for the days inbetween I will put them on here and I will also start a facebook page -Jaysons 8 in 8 for anyone who wants to follow my progress.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you so much.

Jayson, Vicky & Joshua
