John O'Groats to Lands End JOGLE · 20 June 2007

We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!

NEWS! - Job done - 972 miles in 15 days with no days off and during the wettest month on record !  No-wonder we struggled. But a fantastic feeling of achievement and plenty raised for this excellent cause - if haven't alredy done so - please give generously.

OLD NEWS! - James (Jim) Cresswell, and his old school-friend Ian (ISH) Shotton, are embarking on the famous cycling End-to-End - the ride that is from one end of the country to the other - in this case from John O'Groats to Land's End, known colloquially as the JOGLE. This involves riding almost 1000 miles (and possibly more when we inevitably get lost) against the prevailing winds at an average of 70 odd miles per day with no rest days along the way.

Ian and I will be setting off from John O'Groats on 14th July and if all goes well will reach Land's End on 28th July after two weeks, 1000 miles and probably numerous sore body parts later. No, we haven't done (anywhere near enough) enough training - I'm sure 70 miles a day, every day, for two weeks will be a doddle!

In addition to the personal challenge we are both hoping to raise a useful sum for local hospice's. I have chosen Myton Hospice which does terrific work in our area improving the quality of life for those unfortunate to suffer from life threatening illnesses.

Whilst Ian and I are motivated by the personal challenge we face it will help inspire us tremendously if we can be driven on by raising a lot of money and making a difference to those far less fortunate than ourselves. I would love to be generating a pound for every mile - so £1000 is the target. Anything you can spare in sponsorship will be most gratefully accepted.

Thanks to friends from Round Table for their support and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Myton Hamlet Hospice Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
