End to End · 12 August 2005

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

[Our team will be posting updates of our progress at http://endtoend.netlagoon.com/.]

In September, I will be cycling the length of Britain, a distance of about 1000 miles.

My "End to End" will be in aid of Leukaemia Research, a cause close to my heart since my cousin Sarah died of leukaemia in 1999 aged 16.

I will be cycling with my wife Sophie Fairbairn, my cousin Albert Cheung and his friend Ed Cohen. The journey will take about 3 weeks, starting at Land's End and finishing at John O'Groats.

The idea of riding the End to End came to Albert and me when we were on holiday in Cornwall a few years ago. Whilst visiting Land's End, we noticed two exhausted-looking cyclists arriving and popping open some champagne in celebration. Now, after (not enough) months of training and lots of exciting shopping for kit, I'm ready for my own epic journey. Please support me by pledging your sponsorship. You can sponsor me on this webpage using a credit/debit card. Be sure to click "Pay on Completion" so that your card is only charged after we complete the ride. "Sponsor Us Now" will charge you immediately. If you prefer to pledge a donation to me directly, please get in touch. Albert and I began supporting LRF in 2003, when we were sponsored to ride the 12-mile London Bikeathon. At that time I raised about £250 - roughly £1 per mile per donor. I wouldn't recommend that kind of rate for a 1000-mile ride! Do give generously though, and remember that your donations will make a big difference to the future treatment of leukaemia.
