Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
I did it! The official time was 1 hour 34 minutes and 13 seconds!
Really good day at the Great South Run raising money for a charity called Hoveraid. It's a small charity who don't have millions invested in stock market funds but who do amazing work in some of the hardest to reach communities in the world. They are working to get essential services, like doctors and medication, to the remotest parts of Madagascar at the moment - places that lorries can't get to and helicopters don't go.
I agreed to do the run for a number of reasons. Firstly, the work Hoveraid do is important, secondly, a good friend is committed to keeping the charity working and, thirdly, it was time I did something other than sit in front of my computer all day. I think it was a moment of madness having turned 40 in February that made me think that running 10 miles would be a good idea. I'd only run (or jogged very slowly) twice before in my life and that was when I was 15 years old. Back in March it seemed a long time until 25th October but it came round very quickly.
Now it is done and I've run past Superman, Bananaman and lots of men in tutus. I don't ever have to do it again. The thing is, it's a bit addictive and I'm considering doing the Great North Run next year - it's only another 3 miles!
Even though I've completed the run you're still able to sponsor me. Please sponsor me now if you can afford to, even if it's 1p per mile - every bit will help.
Thanks,
Jon Ward (aka Jonathan Roby)
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hoveraid Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. More good reasons to sponsor me now!
