My story
Jeff and I are passionate about food - The making of it, The eating of it and The sharing of it. We are lucky enough to have enough of it. More than enough of it. Food for ourselves, food for our children, food for our pets, food for when friends come over.
We are moved by the the fact that some never get enough. We are moved by the fact that over the last 3 months 30,000 children in East Africa have died due to lack of food. A further 750,000 people are at risk of starvation over the next few months.
In a bid to make maybe just a small difference we have decided to go without the food we love (oh, and the wine) for 7 days. From the 1st through the 7th of November we shall survive on a bowl of rice, each, a day. And water. And a multivitamin. We will be giving our grocery money to help out in East Africa.
About half of the population of the world live on a bowl of rice a day. Maybe, while raising money for the famine in Africa, we will also be able to catch a glimpse of what it feels like to live on so little. Except of course, we won't... because we will be providing our children with good, healthy and sustaining meals, because we will be warm with our insulated home and cozy clothes and central heating, because we will have access to clean water, because we will have the knowledge that someday very soon we will eat until satisfied.
Please join us in helping to help families survive this awful famine. Please donate!
Thank you,
Christine & Jeff xx
