We have decided to participate in this challenge as a tribute to friends, family and colleagues who have been affected by cancer.
Why are we doing this now???????
In March of this year we lost a good friend (Janice) to breast cancer. Janice was only 49 when she died. She did not have a healthy childhood as she was plagued by heart problems. This led her to seek a career helping others and subsequently trained as a Radiographer. Janice's mum died of cancer when Janice was in her teens and her dad has been affected by two different types of cancer. Janice's older sister also died of cancer at age 50. When most people find out they have cancer they say 'Why me', Janice's comment was 'It's my turn'. A truly remarkable person.
Janice received great help and support from Macmillan Cancer Support and could not praise them highly enough.
Members of our own family have also died of cancer over the years and have also received great support from the Macmillan group.
This is our way of helping others with cancer.
