Thanks for dropping by and checking out my page.
This August, I will be a volunteer teacher in Thailand, in a rural community in Chiang Rai. This amazing opportunity came up through Volunteers for Educational Support and Learning (VESL) and coMMUni - Manchester Metropolitan University's volunteering organisation. It's a worthwhile cause, I'm sure you'll agree.
About me
At present, I have just finished a PGCE in post-compulsory education. In the future, I intend to use this experience to facilitate learning in communities in the UK (and maybe abroad too - who knows!).
I am great a believer in non-coercive education with an emphasis on holistic education and learner empowerment (Carl Rogers has lots to say on this - I highly recommend Freedom to Learn).
I believe that no matter how young, or how old, you are - you can be learning in many different ways throughout your life. I hope to be able to take my experience as an educator in the UK to Thailand. I hope to come back bursting with new ideas I will gain from Thai education and hope to share these with future learners.
