We're excited you have taken the time to visit our page dedicated to raising funds and awareness around the work The U Foundation does.
During the winter of 2008, we traveled to Zambia. It was a life altering trip for both of us. We enjoyed many exciting adventures and took in amazing landscapes. However, it was the people of Zambia that have stuck with us. To give you an idea of the amazing tales, here are a couple of small anecdotes:
On our first flight, Jenn ended up with a strangers baby on her lap for the duration. Neither of us can explain how, but the mother trusted Jenn and we had the pleasure of this beautiful girl smiling up at us for a couple of hours. We think our smiles were probably bigger.
At one of the places we stayed, everyone became friends and family. Being away from home and our families around Christmas could have been tough, but we found a new family in the people of Mfuwe. One of those individuals happens to be someone heavily involved in The U Foundation. We had the pleasure of visiting the Mfuwe project and got to see first hand the empowerment they are providing people.
When David came down with an illness, a teenage boy in Lusaka drove him around for a good part of a Sunday morning until they could finally find an open pharmacy.
We celebrated New Year's Day by being invited into a family's home because his wife had just given birth. We didn't know that he meant "just." We got to share in life's most precious moment while huddled together in a small room. Two years later, there is still a gorgeous little girl running around Africa that goes by the name, "Jennifer."
In just a short three week stay, Zambia has forever left an imprint on our lives. The people we met are people that we will always hold dear to us. The people of Zambia are happy, generous, and genuine. Until we have the chance to go back and continue our relationship with the people, we saw this as great opportunity to stay connected.
Please know that any donations that are made are going to support an incredible foundation working with incredible people.
