I will never understand those lumbering creatures,

Who bear those cruel long sticks,

They BANG they kill, never pausing to think

And something just doesn't fit in...

 

I will never know why it has to be, that i should be confined to such woe -

The pain, the dread, the endless terror

Where do their rights lie? I don't know,

And you know, it still doesn't fit in...

 

They crash through our wilderness, breathing so deep -

Their culprit finger, poised on the trigger

They take what they want but it isn't enough,

They crave more, need more - Sure as hell get more

 

And it STILL doesn't fit in...

The true, yet seemingly veiled fact...

 

They dare to scream "brute", "animal" or " beast"

They DARE to behave like this...

When all the while they're forgetting that

It's the human that IS the beast....

 

And there, my friend -

            Is the GREAT

                                    DELUSION

                                                         OF THE LIVING...

 

When I was younger, I wrote a poem that I gave to my grandmother, Jennie Hindhaugh, who could break her heart over the same things i find myself doing in my own life.

Specifically, cruel, callous poachers who hunt down beautiful wild creatures that we, as humans ironically call "beasts" or "animals", when in fact it would seem the biggest joke of all is we are the beasts to do so, for our own greedy gain; it always comes down to money.

When my gran died, i discovered this poem inside a picture of me, & on the reverse she had scrawled "Jennie, my one, only reason for having a daughter"..I have never quite worked out what this means but i hope it means she was touched by it in some way...

I have posted this poem above & essentially the point it was making is this; it was a venting of angst, anger & pain that we as humans harm these beautiful creatures so callously & that it is the "Great Delusion of the Living" (that we are supposed to be the most civilised, advanced living beings on earth, as humans, when in fact we can be the greatest beasts of all).

As "humans" we have WIPED OUT 98% of the worlds total population of tigers in the last century.98%!!! If we don't act, FACT is there will be NO tigers left in 2 decades MAX. They will be wiped out forever...

I urge you to think about this for a moment, seriously. Have you ever watched a big cat - see how stunning, how beautiful and amazing they are..truly breathtaking. Do you want your kids and your kids children to grow up in a world where tigers only exist in a history book..as a concept they can only imagine by gathering info and pics from books??I certainly don't and in fact I would be ashamed to bring my children up in a world full of humans that has allowed this to happen.

Another FACT is WE CAN STOP THIS HAPPENING. Thats the good news. There are cruel people in the world savagely killing off these creatures but there are also kind, loving, selfless people who dedicate their lives, time & hearts to fighting to make sure this does not happen...

The WWF dedicates its donations to preserving and advancing major conservation projects that are tirelessly fighting to protect all endangered species, as sadly tigers are only one of many...I am a single mum and skint, but this won't stop me giving so please no excuses, everyone can afford a pound or so and i defy anyone to consider the baby cub on this profile pic & not feel a dire need to do so.

That baby cub will have witnessed its mother being slaughtered, before being captured, sedated and stuffed in a suitcase like a toy animal and dragged through customs in an attempt to smuggle and use for dire purposes...can you imagine the terror and fear it will have endured...can you imagine the terror of the mummy it was stolen from? Can you IGNORE THIS and say its a shame but not give? Please don't it truly is a fact giving will help SO MUCH and will alter the course of the future for tigers. The pic and story attached breaks my heart & I want to help stop this and hope some of you do to as i will be so greatful to those who get on board and donate even the smallest of amounts.
