My mother originally took me to the doctors regarding my fainting episodes, dizzy spells and sudden changes in personality. We were never to expect what happened next; before we knew it we'd been referred to two hospitals. This is when things started to get worse in terms of my symptoms. I started becoming very confused when alone in public and exhausted easily. They're were a few occasions Id lost touch with what was real in my episodes, convinced my head had fallen off! It gave the paramedic a laugh though. The seizures progressed and soon I was sent for a brain scan at Addenbrookes hospital. I had a follow up meeting with a surgeon in April 2010 who told me I had what he believed to be a brain tumour. At the time, 15 year old me just laughed at the doctor but was in tears before id left the hospital. Now 2 operations and five years later I'm ready to get my life back and I'm going to help others do the same! In hindsight there were many symptoms from very early childhood, if my parents had had access to an awareness campaign like HeadSmart maybe my condition could have been spotted sooner, our hope is that many in the future with be found early and helped!
