Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thank you for visiting my mums fund raising page.

As you will probably know, mum lost her battle with MND on 28th October.

We will continue to support the MNDA for the fantastic help they gave us, and for the hope that one day nobody else will have to experience this cruel disease.

Thanks for supporting us at this difficult time.

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I have the misfortune of being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a terrible terrible disease that is terminal, but not before it has totally taken away the ability to do everything we all take for granted...walking, talking, eating, drinking and even breathing.  Until 6 months ago I was as normal as everyone else.  It does seem that the disease appears  to be on the increase, although that may be due in part to better diagnosis, and it can strike anyone without warning, usually after the age of 50.  The symptoms are slow and seem silly at first...maybe you might trip over a couple of times or feel extra tired, or like me, my tongue felt strange and talking became odd or you simply start to get a lot of cramps.  There is only currently one drug available which does not work for everyone, but that only slows it down and just MAYBE gives you an extra 3-6  months of life.    BUT

The only way to try to stop this disease is to support clinical trials.  The motor Neurone Association, who already do a fantastic job of supporting victims, are hoping to run ONE or TWO clinical trials...but to do that they need £500,000.  Details of the trials are now showing on the mnd association website and they hope to start them in early 2009.   PLEASE donate and make this trial happen...lives depend on it...  and a BIG THANK YOU and on that note, if you dont mind, could you please share with me some way to contact you, preferably via email, as I would like to thank each and every one who donates, personally.  Or at least tell me through whom you got my details so that I can send thanks through them.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Motor Neurone Disease Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
