Story
About Jen (Things she wouldn't tell you herself) by Malcolm Price
[If you see that the £1500 Macmillan target has been reached, please send a cheque to The Orchard, Edge , Stroud, Glos GL6 6NE payable to 'Jenny Price' and she will split it between the charitiable trusts mentioned below.]
Jen has retroperitoneal lyposarcoma - a rare form of cancer which normally kills within 10 years. She's in year 15. Surgery is the only effective palliative - 10 major ops so far. Max dose radiotherapy and radical chemo have been tried on her to no avail. After her 3rd op she took up running in a clear two-fingered gesture to her disease. Between surgery she has run the Gloucester 20 Miles, many half-marathons (incl 3 GNRs), Tough 10 miles, 10Ks, etc.
London 2009 will be her first Marathon (not easy with a colostomy!) less than a week before her 60th birthday. She has already raised over £2000 for RNID, who provided her place, and is now fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Care and charitable trusts set up by 2 of her surgeons who, with their team, have so brilliantly kept her and many others alive to continue providing love and inspiration to family and friends.
I shamelessly invite you to give as much as you can in support of the most courageous person I have ever met.
Malcolm Price
