Story

Dear all,

This April I will be trekking the Great Wall of China to raise money for Breast Cancer campaign.

Breast cancer first touched my family in 1995 when my mum was diagnosed at the age of 43, she took it all in her stride and fought it all the way, she got given the all clear a year later.

Breast cancer was to return into our lives 5 years later when mum found another lump on the same side as last time. But, like a true fighter, she battled through and beat it again.

Unfortunately, after 4 years, it was back, only this time it had spread to the brain....she never gave up the hope and fought for almost a year with all the optimism and fighting spirit she had before, sadly the fight could not be won this time and she died on 30 August 2007, aged 53.

I will be flying on my own to China to take part in the organised charity challenge, which will involve trekking some of the most challenging parts of the Great Wall, some of which is unrenovated and crumbling, it will take 9 days and will require a high level of fitness. I will keep you posted on my training efforts!!

I am trekking the Great Wall of China in the memory of my mum, but I'm raising the money for everyone out there who has been touched by breast cancer.

Breast Cancer Campaign aims to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure. By raising money for this research we can hopefully spare future generations from this heart breaking disease.

Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page, please dig deep and support this very worthwhile charity.
