I'm heading to Scotland for three weeks at the end of October to be a Volunteer Project Manager with the Raleigh International Project Re:Green - supporting young people on a conservation and campaigning project on the west coast of Scotland to conserve and restore rare native and ancient woodland. 

Volunteers will be taking part in nature conservation activities including supporting the removal of invasive plant species, restoration, rewilding green spaces, tree-planting and reforestation, habitat and wildlife monitoring, as well as trail maintenance. And as a Volunteer Manager I will also be testing my people management, mentoring and leadership skills (and stepping firmly out of my comfort zone!).

Before then I am trying to raise £500 towards Raleigh International's work. Raleigh International is a youth-driven sustainable development charity who inspire communities and young people around the world to create lasting change. It’s programmes focus on providing access to safe water and sanitation, protecting vulnerable environments, creating sustainable livelihoods, building resilient communities, and ensuring young people are connected, valued partners in development.
