Story

Hi All !..... Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine :)

Thank you again for all your kind donations to my Just Giving site, you have all been very generous and I know that CRY and my family are very grateful for your contributions.

On Sunday 18th July 2010, my family and I will be taking part in the 'CRY London Bridges Walk' We will be walking from the Golden Jubilee Bridge, zig zagging crossing the bridges to finish on Tower Bridge!

The route includes great views of at least 12 of London's famous landmarks, chosen to represent the deaths of 12 young people a week from undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

Last year more than 600 people took part, helping to raise over £50,000........ but they need to raise more money.

We as a family thought it fitting to take part this year as it is 25 very long summers since we lost Barry, and if we can help in supporting medical research into the reason why so many families suffer a traumatic loss like us, it makes that loss a little easier to bear.

If you do have some spare pennies, please contribute, the charity and my family are so grateful!

Until next time!

Hi all..... Me again!!

I just wanted to thank you all for your very very much for your kind donations when completing my Snowdon challenge.  I did it .... if you didnt already know !!! It was amazing... and to know that your donations were going to a very worthy cause spurred me on .... that and the tubi-grip and painkillers for my strained calf muscle!

I also took some time out at the top and thought about Barry ... its something I do everyday, but especially that day as he would have been really proud and probably would have been stood beside me!

Now for the next challenge ..... James and I and our good friends Sarah and Simon, will be taking part in Run Halton - its a 5 mile run across Runcorn bridge on Sunday 4th April ...... Before you say it ..... I know!!  Running has never been my thing (refereeing is all about your diagonals !!), but hey.... neither was climbing mountains and I did it!!

I am not looking for large donations, as you were all very kind before and I also know we all have our own charities.... but if you have any spare change ... please donate again .....

CRY, my lovely family and I really really do appreciate it !!!

Thanks

Jen xxxx

In May 1985 mine and my family's life was changed forever ...... My 'Big Brother' Barry was playing football for the team he loved and without warning collapsed in the centre circle and died from myocardial and coronary problems.  Quite remarkable for an active, 28 year old sportsman.  If only Barry had been given a warning?, if only Barry had regular medical checks? ...If only.......?

So this year, along with some work colleagues I will be climbing Mount Snowdon ... a tall order for a 'shortie' I hear you cry .... But its all about 'positive mental attitude' ..... and my 'Big Brother' had that by the bucket load !!

The expedition takes place on Saturday 19th September 2009 (my beautiful daughter Sarah's 7th birthday) and I would like to donate your sponsorship to CRY, who do a great job in raising awareness of the secret killer that is cardiac problems in the younger generation
