Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 25 May 2012 I will be taking to the skies over Yorkshire to throw myself out of a plane from 12,000 feet!

To say I am a little nervous about the event is an understatement as I am not keen on heights and despite the level of air miles I have clocked up over the past 12 months, I absolutely detest flying. The thought of climbing to 12,000 feet in a small old plane is already giving me nightmares and I am hoping that the fear of actually being in the plane will help me overcome the fear of jumping out! I

All the money raised will go to Martin House. Martin House Hospice cares for Children and Young People with progressive life limiting illnesses, and provides support to their families. They are based in a purpose built hospice in Boston Spa, Wetherby and care for children and young people from throughout the Yorkshire region.

The aim of Martin House is to provide family led care for children with life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses. It is a place where children, young people and their families can go to stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help. It is a place of love and understanding, a peaceful place but one that can also have a lively, friendly atmosphere full of fun and laughter, where children and their families can enjoy the best quality of life.

Recently Martin House gave support to Billy Sharp & his partner Jade when their son Luey Jacob was born with gastroschisis. Sadly Luey passed away 2 days after being born. The courage of Billy (pictured) in such difficult circumstances touched the nation and the footballing world. As a massive Doncaster Rovers fan and also someone who has raised money for Martin House in the past, it seemed natural for me to want to help raise funds for such an important charity in the Yorkshire region.

To assist me in raising as much money as possible, I am paying for the cost of the jump myself with no assistance from the charity - all donations received will go direct to Martin House.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Thank you all for your donations.
