Story
Nestor Partnership are a 2010 'baton-holder' for Headway – the Brain Injury Charity. Being a horsey type, my challenge had to incorporate my passion for horses, as well as have some fun along the way. This particular challenge will be something that is outside my comfort zone, and that of my horse Penny (a somewhat mal-coordinated 16.2hh beast from Latvia who is terrified of cows)!
So join me & Penny to complete the 'Mary Towneley Loop', a National Trail, purpose built for horse riders, mountain bikers and walkers. It is a 47 mile distance on a circular route that is physically challenging in that it climbs up and down the steep-sided South Pennine valleys. It will take 3 full days of riding to complete. The terrain comprises a variety of surfaces including grass tracks, stone setts, stone causeways, aggregate paths and some quiet roads. The route is clearly signposted and gates and crossings are user friendly.
Although the trail is purpose built for horse riders, the challenge should not be underestimated. Horses and riders need to be fit and prepared. Most of the going will be at walk and trot. The weather may prove to be a challenge as well as the terrain!
Please donate, for this worthy cause, safe in the knowledge that there will be some soreness and aches and pains once we have finished. Please give asd much as you can for this great charity.
Thanks
Jenny & Penny
