My story
WALK4MATT09
Once again the madness sets in! Angela and I are represeting Harlequins and taking part in a 106 mile charity walk!!
We will be joined throughout the walk by other members of staff and Harlequin supporters.
So far, confirmed walkers include Lorraine who will join us for the Friday (8th May) and Colin who will take part on the Wednesday (13th May) Anybody else wishing to join then please get in touch!!!!
The Matt Hampson Trust Fundraising Committee are organising a charity walk on behalf of the Matt Hampson Trust, SpecialEffect(www.specialeffect.org.uk) and other designated charities chosen by each participating club. The walk has the backing of British Waterways, PRL (Professional Rugby Limited), PRA (The Professional Rugby Players Association) and all 12 Guinness Premiership Rugby Union Clubs, Leicester, Northampton, Bath, Worcester, Gloucester, Bristol, Newcastle, Sale, Harlequins, Wasps, Saracens and London Irish.
We will start from the birthplace of our great game, Rugby (Clifton Cruisers Marina) on Friday 8th May. We then finish at the RFU headquarters in Twickenham Saturday 16th May for the Guinness Premiership Final, with all participants walking around the pitchbefore the game.
Matt suffered a dislocation in his neck which had trapped his spinal cord. It has left him paralyzed from the neck down and more determined than ever from theneck up. It is Matt’s spirit and bravery that has earnet him such recognition and has pulled together the rugby world who want to take care of one of their own.
This is for a great charity so please give generiously if for no other reason than to see Angela and I in a great deal of pain!
